Hello and welcome to The Swan Inn at Nibley.

Since reopening the pub in March 2009 we've tried to impress people coming back with a wide selection of real ales from the Wickwar Brewing Company and a stunning menu & specials board selection from our chefs. Food

We are very proud of our menu and continually changing specials board which provides a seasonal feast of modern rustic food at affordable prices.  We strongly believe in showcasing the fabulous local produce provided by the wealth of dedicated and talented producers and suppliers that we have on our doorstep.

Our menus and wine list have something for everyone: inventive and taste-bud tickling à la carte food made from the best local ingredients, and never over-complicated.  If you are looking for a quick, satisfying lunchtime meal, try one of our Ciabatta rolls.  Or enjoy a glass of wine or local ale on one of our bar stools and enjoy the friendly, welcoming bar atmosphere.

Sous Chef

We are looking to recruit a Sous Chef to join our team. You must have either 18 months experience as a Commis Chef and are looking for the next step up or have been a Sous Chef in your last position.
The ideal person will be highly reliable as you will be over seeing the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef and be completely hands on.

The following skills and attributes are essential.

Outstanding kitchen Standards

Extremely High standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
Own or are happy to get own transport

Assistant Manager

An experienced Assistant Bar Manager is required to join our team. Reporting to the Bar Manager, the following experience is desirable:
You must have at least 6 months experience of opening and closing a bar, till reconciliation and cashing up.
Supervision of casual staff is required and you must have the ability to handle barrels/gas cylinders
Excellent cash handling references will be required
You will also need good people skills and the ability to organise others are important as well as having an approachable and outgoing personality
General Duties:
Personally provide cover for the Pub Manager in his absence (eg Orders, rotas etc)
Supervise the bar during opening hours to provide efficient, cost effective services
Open and close bar at agreed times
Check fridges and back bar and bottle up as required before the bar opens
Cash up tills
Prepare daily takings reconciliation as directed by the Pub Manager
Prepare staff rotas with the Pub Manager
Ensure bar staff report for duty on time and complete signing-in sheet
Supervise casual bar staff throughout the shift
Perform weekly pipe cleaning
Maintain good stock control practices
Maintain good order in cellar and stock room
Ensure area behind bar is clean and prepared for service and left clean and tidy at the end of each shift
In collaboration with the Pub Manager, introduce promotions to increase sales and suggest service standard improvements where necessary
Carry out associated duties as required by the Pub Manager

Commis Chef or Trainee Chef

We are looking to recruit a Sous Chef to join our team. You must have either 3-6 months experience as a Commis Chef or be an enthusiastic but unexperienced trainee chef.
